Ergo Custom Tuning Hammer
Read reviews of this lever in our article, Tuning Lever Makers & Products.
The handles of the Ergo Tuning Hammer are primarily sculpted from apple or arbutus branches locally sourced in the province of British Columbia, Canada. They are finished using amazing, 100% non-toxic products from Odie's Oil. These hammers are slightly heavy, weighing between 10.5 and 13.5 oz.
The intent was to achieve a sharper angle from the pin to the head while concurrently maintaining sufficient hammer clearance above the plate struts and/or upright lid overhang—all while striving to optimize tuning pin control. The degree of deflection is determined by the base of the handle having 1 inch of clearance. The physics gives the initial head-to-pin an angle of 90 degrees.
This lever comes with an adapter and a spacer, not a tip. The spacer is to be used with a Jahn tuning tip, which is the recommended tip to use with this lever, but you can use the adapters for a different brand tip. The adaptor is double-ended; the wider threads go into the tuning hammer, the narrower threads fit the tuning tip. See video for details! Be careful not to reverse the threads and force the adjuster into place incorrectly.
